This piece was originally designed and
made for the Gordon Russell Project,
a joint initiative between
Rycotewood Furniture Centre,
Hands of Wycombe and the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.

The brief was to create a piece for a a high end (5* +) hotel. This sideboard offers storage and display space with a sculptural feel to it. The crisp geometric lines and contrasting woods hint at the luxuriant feel of Art Deco interiors

The feedback I had in various shows was that its design
would also work in a domestic setting. As the main
compartment is accessed by sliding the top and the
drawers come out from the end, it means that all
                                                        movements happen along the wall
rather than into the room: you can
                                                        access all the compartments without
asking people to move their chairs.

The Credenza was Awarded Certificate of Merit by the Worshipful
Company of Furniture Makers and was one of the three pieces
shortlisted in its category for the Wood Awards 2009.
