Dave Steele was a community activist in Hull in the early 1970s
working at the Outsider Community Projects Trust (commonly
known as The Outsiders) based around Leonard St. On leaving he
set up Community Screen Printers, Whatever Next Art Workshop
with Steve Carr in which they had a black and white darkroom.
In January of 1975, concerned about the loss of the built
environment Dave decided to make a photographic record of
the surviving parts of the docks, the old town and the dense and
largely run-down housing north of Spring Bank.
In 2017 he returned to a few sites and took comparative shots.
